Thomas "Cougar" Gutierrez

Thomas “Cougar” Gutierrez age 57, a resident of Cordillera passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on November 11, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Olivama Gutierrez; maternal grandparents Rudolfo and Maria Sanchez and paternal grandparents Felimon and Louisa Gutierrez.

Thomas served his country in the U.S. Army, later he worked as a Wild Land Firefighter, and was a mechanic for many years.  He was a generous and kind man who was always willing to help people in need.  Everyone was always welcomed into his house, he lived his life in his own unique way, with boundless enthusiasm and joy.

He is survived by his siblings Lorenzo Gutierrez (Christine), Robert Gutierrez, Gloriana Gutierrez, Barbara Reedy (Juan), Michael Gutierrez; nieces and nephews Mario Gutierrez, Valerie Hughes, Meredith Gutierrez, and Christian Gutierrez; uncle and aunt Alipio and Sylvia Mondragon, plus many other loving relatives and friends.

Private visitation will take place on Monday November 16, 2020 in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, followed by burial at 11:30am at the San Antonio Cemetery in Valdez.
