Sophie Ida Tafoya, passed away on December 25, 2019 in Denver. She was born on November 22, 1925 in Wagon Mound New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Abeyta and Rafaelita Sisneros; sons Max and Sam Trujillo; siblings Mary Medina, Isabelle Archuleta, Ernestina Mondragon, Emma Tafoya, Rosella Romero and Olmedo Abeyta Jr. She is survived by her husband Max Tafoya; children Larry Trujillo, Sally (Bob) Acosta, DeeAnn Trujillo, Patsy Escalera (Ralph ), and Valerie Escalera; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Siblings, Emilio Abeyta (Margie), Eddie Abeyta (Anna), and Margie Velasquez.  Sophie will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Mom loved fishing, crocheting, singing, being with her family. Her favorite color was purple. A true believer of God!! We love you!

Public visitation will be on Thursday January 2, 2020 at Romero’s Funeral Home in Denver from 1:00-2:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00pm.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 11:00am in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos with burial to follow at El Descanso Cemetery.
