Simon Phyllo Tate (Blevins) June 16, 1997 – March 26, 2025

Simon Phyllo Tate (Blevins), 27, left this world too soon on the afternoon of March 26, 2025, while doing what he loved most skiing the slopes of Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, where he worked as a dedicated ski instructor.

Skiing was more than a passion for Simon—it was his element. His energy on the slopes was unmatched, and he found immense joy in teaching and inspiring others, especially adaptive guests. His dedication to making the mountains accessible to all was a reflection of his boundless kindness and compassion. When not carving through fresh powder, Simon could be found biking, hiking, rafting, and embracing every adventure the great outdoors had to offer.

Beyond his love for nature, Simon was a person of deep intellect, curiosity, and heart. He could turn any conversation into an impassioned discussion, bringing light and enthusiasm to every topic. His kindness was immense, his spirit infectious, and his presence a source of joy for all who knew him.

Simon was a proud graduate of New Mexico State University, earning a degree in Soil Science with double minors in Microbiology and Agriculture. His love for the natural world and his unwavering commitment to making a difference led him to serve in the Peace Corps in Malawi, Southeastern Africa, where he worked to improve sustainable agricultural practices and uplift communities.

Wherever he went, Simon left the world better than he found it. His boundless optimism, adventurous spirit, and deep compassion for others will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Simon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his father, Timothy Scott Blevins; beloved sister, Sophia Lorraine Blevins, stepmother, Kaye Goodyear (Blevins) of Santa Fe, NM; mother, Ana-Ruth Aldana of Llano, NM; uncles, Gerald Blevins (Tabitha) of Elkhart, TX, and Greg Blevins (Sarah) of Clarksburg, WV; aunt, Brenda Marion (Randy) of Peachtree City, GA; and cousins, John Blevins, Susan Blevins, Spencer Marion, Thomas Marion, Stephen Maxfield, and Patrick Maxfield. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Reba Blevins of Beckley, WV.

A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, at 11:45 AM at the Martini Tree, Taos Ski Resort, where friends and loved ones gathered to share cherished memories of Simon and honor his extraordinary impact on their lives.

He has been returned to the earth in Llano, NM, a place as full of beauty and adventure as the life he lived.

Though Simon’s time with us was far too short, his legacy of love, adventure, and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“The mountains whispered his name, the rivers carried his laughter, and the earth embraced him once more.”
