Robert S. Freudenheim

d. November 27, 2024

Robert S. Freudenheim passed on November 27th, 2024, at the age of 73. Bob was born on January 14th, 1951 in Albany New York, the son of Bernard Swartz and Evelyn Kopmar.

Upon the death of his father, Bob as a young child, with his brother and mother moved to Brooklyn, New York. When Norman Freudenheim adopted the two young children, the family later relocated to Watkins Glen, and then Ithaca, New York.

In 1974 Bob earned a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing from Franconia College in Franconia, New Hampshire. In 1977 he met Lynn Wilkinson in Ithaca who would become his life partner and future wife. The couple were owners of a successful business as buyers in the USA and European markets and in all operations of their store. In 1996 they moved to Taos, New Mexico. Bob and Lynn established Aventura, an original design outerwear clothing store initially located at Overland Ranch, they then moved Aventura to Kit Carson Road.

Bob’s knowledge in the clothing business was extraordinary and his personal professional approach with customers was unparalleled. His kindness and expertise made many people very happy. Bob and his wife not only pursued business endeavors in Taos but were vigorously involved in the natural environment that the area had to offer. Alpine and cross-country skiing, hiking and fly fishing were at the top of his list. He was also a devoted practitioner of Yoga.

Bob always maintained his love for literature. He was a prolific writer of poetry, and had been recently studying Russian writings and language to gain deeper insight into Pushkin and other writers from the 19th century. Bob loved their dogs, Cleo, Sasha and Myra the current canine companion. He and Lynn always insisted on adopting their doggies and giving them the best life going forward. Bob was devoted to the daily rambles with their furry quadrupeds until his health no longer permitted. Bob had a significant appreciation for the fine arts, music, architecture, fashion of course and discovering new and different genres. Bob had a keen sense of justice, concerning himself with issues ranging from social inequalities, protecting and conserving the environment, corporate and military overreach to politics.

Bob Freudenheim is survived by his soulmate and wife Lynn Wilkinson together for nearly 48 years. He was a lovely inquisitive man who will be impossibly missed. As an old friend said, “Bob was a beautiful person”.

The family of Robert S. Freudenheim has entrusted the care of their loved one to the caring staff of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. 866-657-4019 www.devargastaos.com
