Phil E. Sanchez

Phil E. Sanchez age 82, a resident of Des Montes passed away peacefully at home on Christmas day.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albino and Corina Sanchez; son Clifford Sanchez; grandson Marcus Brengman; 1 sister and 2 brothers.

Phil is survived by one son Philip “Steve” Sanchez (Mary Ellen) of Des Montez, 2 daughters Sylvia (Warren) of Minneapolis MN, and Amanda Sanchez of Pueblo, CO; his sisters Maria S. Flores (Arturo) of Lompoc, CA and Kathy Sanchez (Leola) of Albuquerque; his grandsons Martin and Stephen Sanchez of Des Montes who cared for him as his health declined.  Also, grandchildren Kenneth, Maria, Andrea, Consuelo, Sarah, and Carlo; 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, that will greatly miss him.

A lifelong resident of the Arroyo Seco area, Phil graduated from THS in 1958 and served in the National Guard.  He spent most of his adult life working at Taos Ski Valley as a lift operator during the winter and trail maintenance during the summer months.  One of the original pioneers who helped carve the trails we know and love.  Phil enjoyed restoring old cars, his pride and joy being a 56 Ford pickup and a 64 Galaxy convertible.

A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
