Paul Otero, 64, a resident of Tres Piedras, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on January 5, 2025.

Paul was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico October 5th, 1960. He was the first child of 5 children to Gloria and Porfirio Otero.

Raised in the neighborhood of San Jose, he went to East San Jose Elementary school, McKinley Middle school and Del Norte High school. Paul enjoyed gardening, building, raising animals as well as art, drawing, painting, and dancing. And, as you know, he loved animals, the outdoors and wilderness.

Paul graduated from Del Norte High school, moved North at the age of 17 and rented a small round cabin in the Tusas outside of Tres Piedras where he started off his new life, career and family. He and his wife Toni went on to have two beautiful children Naomi and Dominic. Paul was a proud father and grandfather.

He was known as a soft-spoken individual. He was a “Pablo of all trades”! He will be remembered for his dedication and service during his 30+ year career with the U.S. Forest Service. For his Kindness and Friendship, and of course, his love for his family, animals, outdoors, and the wilderness.

He is survived by his daughter Naomi Otero, son-in-law Jesus Castaneda, granddaughters Vayda and Eden; son Dominic, daughter-in-law Rachael and grandson Manuel; his mother Gloria; sisters Amanda and Cindy and brother's Eric and Bill; his godchildren Andrew, Brianna and Kimberly; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Porfirio Otero; brother Charles Otero, ex-wife Toni Aragon; paternal grandparents Carlota and Lorenzo Otero, maternal grandparents Consuelo and Reynaldo Torrez (Ray).

Service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at 11:00am, at the Tres Piedras Seventh - day Adventist church located at #7 Escondido Rd. Tres Piedras.
