Orphelita (Orphie) Gurule

Orphelita (Orphie) Gurulé age 79, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020.

Born in Rio Lucio, NM on August 22, 1940, she was preceded in death by her parents Bernabe and Manuelita Gurulé; grandparents Josefa Vigil De Gurulé, Antonio and Anita Olguin; sister Roselyn Martinez; brother Antonio Gurulé and beloved Prima Jenny Fresquez.

Orphie is survived by her children Marcus (Christine), Michael (Tiffany), Santiago (Clara), Wilfred, Melissa (Mercedes); grandchildren Jonah, Noah, Marlena, Taylor, Gabrielle, Santiago, Cruz, Zaydriana and Jaeden.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Orphie was a very happy, loving, kindhearted woman and especially enjoyed watching “Little House on the Prairie”, “The Waltons”, “Gunsmoke”, and was an awesome cook.  Our family is deeply saddened at her passing and will miss her greatly.  The family would like to thank the Taos Living Center (TLC) for the care they gave her the past four years.  We want to thank the numerous family and friends who visited her during her stay at TLC.

Private Rosary will be recited in the Evergreen Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 20, 2020 at 11:00AM at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco.  Burial will follow at the Pacheco / Gurulé Cemetery.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions 85 people will be allowed and facemasks are required.
