Octaviano Montoya

Octaviano Martin (Jerky) Montoya age 84, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, passed away January 21, 2023.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and son; parents Juan De Dios and Abelina Montoya; in-laws Leandro & Teresina Romero; brother Claudino Montoya (Aurora); sisters Ernestina Montoya, Della Watson, Jesse Martinez and Mary Martinez; sisters-in-law Elizidia Gomez (George), Frances Romero and Dolores Romero.

Octaviano proudly served his country in the United States Army, later he worked for the railroad, and was also employed by Taos Gravel, and Moly Corp for nearly 30 years where he retired from.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Lydia Montoya; daughter Abbie Fernandez (Joe); grandchildren Brandon Fernandez (Victoria), Thomas Fernandez (Melina) and Alicia Fernandez; sister Flora Garcia; in-laws Leo Romero (Ruby) and Eloisa Romero; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Friday January 27, 2023 at 9:00am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at the New Llano Quemado Cemetery.
