Neoma Martinez

Neoma V. Martinez of Valdez, NM passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alejandro and Maclovia Valdez; In-laws Maximiano and Juanita Martinez; her brother Antonio Valdez; brothers-in-law Luis Lucero and Joe G. Martinez; sister-in-law Emily Valdez and nephew Paul Lucero.

Neoma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Palemon A. Martínez; daughters Marian Girmus (Ron), Lisa Garcia (Frank); granddaughters Erica Newman (RD), Marissa Garcia and great-granddaughter Kyla as well as siblings Flora (Faustin), Mercedes, Olivia, Arturo, sister-in-law Teresina and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was the eldest of six and was known for putting her family first. She always checked in on her family and was there to help as needed. She had a strong devotion to St. Anthony and belonged to the San Antonio League.  She was involved in the local community as well as in Santa Fe where she spent part of her life. She developed wonderful friendships throughout her life and was loved by many. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughter were the light of her life and she never missed any activities they were involved in. Her granddaughters cherished her like the special gem she was. She loved her hometown of Valdez because of its beauty and the rich history rooted in her family.

Private Services will be held and burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of your choice.
