Our beloved Marty Jr. passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2021. Marty was born in Taos, April 29, 1998 and spent most of his life here.
He was preceded in death by his mother Linda E. Romero; great-grandparents Lila and Hipolito Romero; and his mother’s sister Christella Romero.
Marty is survived by his father Martin Knief and stepmother Bridgette Sanchez; siblings Dominique Knief, Emily Valerio, and Faith Lovato; special friend Johnny Ray Archuleta and cousin Rory Santistevan; paternal grandparents Grace Knief, Bill Knief and Linda; uncle Tony Knief, aunt Gloria Robertshaw, daughter Sarah and her son Jeremiah; maternal grandmother Patsy Romero; aunts Juana Romero (Steve Aguilar), Manuelita Flores (Greg Flores); his cousins Precious, Italia, G-No, Persaus Aguilar, Christella Ramirez and Nevayah Flores, plus numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Marty attended St. Francis Catholic School and the Taos Municipal Schools. He received his GED from UNM-Taos. Marty played Little League, soccer, and was a member of 4-H. He loved skiing and being in the mountains. Marty worked construction and landscaping, he was always ready and willing to help loved ones. He was very understanding and compassionate with a great sense of humor. Marty will be forever missed by all whose heart he touched.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday August 21, 2021 at 10am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, with burial to follow at the Los Cordovas Cemetery.
