Loren T. Sanchez

Loren T. Sanchez, 93, of Talpa, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Born in Talpa on May 18, 1931, Loren spent much of her life traveling the world with her husband, Jose E. Sanchez, an Army serviceman. Together, they raised a family while embracing diverse cultures and experiences.

Loren was widely known for her creativity and passion for sewing. She earned numerous blue ribbons at the Taos County fair for her exquisite quilts, crocheted home items, and expertly altered clothing for many in her community. Her creative talents were matched only by her deep love for her family and her faith in God.

Loren was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Tafoya and Maria Juana Tafoya; her son, William Ben; her daughter, Mary Jane Tafoya; and her siblings, Toni Jacobs and Eli Tafoya.

She is survived by her children: Joann Sanchez, Grace Sanchez, Delores Tafoya (Jerry), and Erlinda Valerio (Andrew). Loren is also survived by her grandchildren: Louann Castillo (Paul), Louella Tafoya, Luis Tafoya (Linda), David Martinez (Amy), Cory Tafoya (Jennifer), Amanda LeDoux (Albert), Don Rowell, Richard Rowell (Nina), Jennifer Kummrow (John), and Noah Valerio. She leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Gilbert Tafoya (Loraine) and sister Celina Romero.

A rosary and burial will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind prayers and support during this time.
