Ernest Leroy Graham, 83 passed away August 31, 2024. He was born in Taos, New Mexico on November 29, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donaciano and Soledad Graham; Brothers Tobias Graham and Robert Graham and Sister Sally Graham; Father-in-Law Max Gonzales, Mother-in-Law Carolina Loyola Gonzales; Brothers and Sisters-in-Law Carla Graham, Dilia Graham and Manuel Aguilar, and nephew Steve Aguilar, and great-great nephew Truett Powell.
Leroy is survived by wife of 57 years Geneva Graham; his daughter Jacqueline Graham (David); and his Grandson Nathaniel Graham-Marquez (Chantel); Brother and Sister: Ruben Graham and Dolores Chavez (Faustin); Brothers and Sisters-in-law Isabel Aguilar (Ted), Henry Gonzales (Ruth), Erlinda Montoya (Tomas), Patricia Pat, Carla Gonzales-Schwarz (Jonathan), Catherine Collins (Kevin), Dolores Jeantete (Tomas), Arthur Gonzales (Sonja), and many godchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Leroy retired from the New Mexico State Highway Department where he worked 30 years. He also worked at Chavez Fine Jewelers for over 20 years. He was an active community member. He was very active with the Taos Acequias and also served as a board member of the Taos Valley Acequia Association. He was awarded the NMAA Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award on November 19, 2016. Leroy was a third generation Farmer/ Rancher and took pride in everything he did.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 6 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 13th at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Graham Family Cemetery, located on Camino del Medio. Serving the family as honorary bearers are Steven Trujillo, Norbert Vigil Jr., Robert Aguilar, Manuel Aguilar, Enrique Gonzales, and Tomas Montoya.
