Leopoldo (Leo) Valencia 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on October 22, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Ignacio and Eulogia Valencia; parents in-law Jose G. and Senovia Sanchez; 3 daughters Mary and Jane Valencia and Bernice Trujillo; 2 grandsons Juanito and Julian Montoya; 6 brothers Elfidio, Alfredo, Pat, Juanito, Pablito Valencia and Louie Coca; 3 sisters Victorina Montoya, Juanita Romo and Ofelia Abeyta; sons-in-law Ernest Montoya, Ramon Rascon and Pat Suazo.
Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years Crucita S. Valencia; daughters Rosie Suazo, Gloria (Vergil), Carmen Rascon, Laura Lovato and Mary Ellen Sanchez (Steve); sons Leo Jr. (Kristi) and Sam (Kathy); 11 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, and 22 great-grandchildren; ahijados Bernabe and Macedonia Valencia who always considered Leo as their father.
Leo was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and neighbor. He loved being out in the forest, he started working at a very young age. He operated his own sawmill and would haul logs, cut them on the sawmill and deliver them daily. Leo was a rancher and also owned a gas service station. Later in life, he worked for the United States Forest Service and established and opened the Valencia Mobile Home Park.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Floyd Valencia, Samuel Rascon, Antonio Lovato, Adrian Valencia, Jesse Valdez, Daniel Valencia, Manuel Torres, and Leo Lovato; serving as honorary pallbearers are, Carlos Valdez, Geno Wilson, Elaine Gutierrez, Victoria Pacheco, Vanessa Wilson, Elizabeth Rascon, Heather Nichols, and Cheryl Rascon.
Private family Services will be held with burial at the Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
