Katherine Louise Jones, age 64, passed away May 22, 2020 following a lengthy illness.
She was born on September 8, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico to Richard and Lois Jones (nee Chambliss), the youngest of three children.
Kathy proved to be incredibly talented as a child, starting out with dance lessons and developing into a wonderful singer and piano player as she grew older.
Her initial schooling was all in Clovis, attending Highland Elementary, Marshall Junior High and graduating from Clovis High School in 1973. She went on to complete the renowned two-year program at Cottey College in Missouri and later joined PEO, the main support organization for the college. Kathy returned home to attend Eastern New Mexico University where she obtained her teaching degree in 1979. In her youth Kathy had been an avid swimmer and lifeguard and turned that love of sport to golf as an adult.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lois Jones.
Kathy is survived by her loving companion Gil Archuleta, who shared her passion for golf and other activities. She is also survived by her brother Richard Jones (Lorraine) of Santa Fe, niece Sarah Jones (Ali Agirnas) of Albuquerque, and brother Marcus Jones (Patty) of Tucson, and nephew Jeremy Jones (Desiree) and their three children of Oklahoma City; Gil’s children, Arolyn Archuleta-Whitney (Paul) of Portland, OR and Jonathan Archuleta (Natasha) of Post Falls, ID.
Her professional work experience included science and math instructor at Taos High School, Grants High School and the University of New Mexico (Taos Branch). Her community involvement included treasurer for Taos Women’s Investment Group (TWIG) and treasurer for Taos Women’s Golf Association.
No public memorial will be held at this time.
