Juanita M. Sanchez, the eldest child of eight siblings born August 7, 1921 to the union of Alfredo Sanchez and Gomecinda Sierra and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the Sanchez Family Matriarch, passed away on February 17th at the age of 103.
Juanita was predeceased by her parents, sisters Anita and Julia; brothers Elizardo, Melcor, Manuel, Aurelio and Alberto; as well as her son Paul, son-in-law Edwin Dominguez; nephews Michael and Raymond, sister-in-law Bella and granddaughter Elizaria.
She is survived by her son Donald (Theresa), son Nefe and daughter Priscilla, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons and one great-great granddaughter as well as several nephews, nieces, and numerous other relatives.
As a child of the depression, she believed in working hard and was a very resilient woman who taught her children that you carry on through difficult and tough times no matter how burdensome those times may be or how bumpy the road ahead might get. Juanita worked for multiple individuals and businesses in Taos from a very young age until her mid-nineties, including the famous country singer, Mr. Michael Martin Murphy where she met Mr. Jack LaLanne, the TV guru of exercise. We believe that mom was rewarded with a long and healthy life for all her years of hard work.
Our mother's passing leaves us with a huge hole in our hearts and lives; but we are so very thankful for having had her for over 103 years. The saying that a mother's love is the ultimate sacrifice is very true, for she gives all she has to and for her children, even if she has nothing left for herself.
The family extends special thanks to all of the Red Willow Hospice Staff as well as the staff at Amber care for the help and care provided our mother during her illness.
!!!WE LOVE YOU MOM---REST IN PEACE!!!
