Juan Herrera

Juan Manuel Herrera, 58, a resident of Taos, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January, 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Manuel and Lytia Herrera. Juan was a craftsman in which he loved to work with his hands. He owned his own construction business for many years then went on to work for the Housing Authority as a maintenance supervisor for many years. Juan was always the center of attention at family gatherings, always being able to share his humor with others. When not at work, he could have been found outdoors spending time with his friends and family. Juan was a man of many talents, especially behind the BBQ grill which he loved to cook with.  One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his two grandsons Jose and Santiago, who they affectionately called grandpa Chacho. Juan is survived by his wife, Esther Herrera; sons, Luis (Martika) and Tadeo Herrera (Devon); Grandchildren, Jose Manuel and Santiago Juan Herrera, Ashley Valerio,  Abby Torres, Deven and Kary Hammer, and Bria Coca; Sisters, Litia San Miguel Herrera, Rosaura Herrera, and Mayra Jaime (Mauricio); his mother in-law, Bertha Andrade; plus, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and cherished friends. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
