Jose R. "Lolo" Rael

Jose R. “Lolo” Rael age 84, a resident of Questa, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Antonio and Stella Rael; siblings Rodolfo Rael, Alfonso Rael, Eva Gallegos, Ofelia Ortiz, Jacobo Rael and Fred Rael.

Jose proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was also employed and later retired from Moly Corp Mine.  Jose was always willing to help others in need, he was very adventurous and loved spending time in the mountains.  An avid sportsman, he enjoyed watching sports and loved the UNM Lobos.

He is survived by his children Victor J. Rael (Debbie) and Albert Rael; good friend and partner Pauline Medina; special loved ones who he considered family, Brian Medina (Rocio), Jazmyn Medina, and Valerie Gonzales (Michael); grandchildren Cassandra Rael (Sergio), Tiffany Rodriguez (Alex); great-grandchildren Elijah, Josiah, Anaya Rodriguez; Xander Gonzales and Jeremy Gonzales, who he considered his grandchildren; siblings Ben Rael (Evangaline) and Gustavo Rael (Aurora); special nieces Yolanda Garcia and Bernadette Weldon, and nephew and caregiver Danny Garcia.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM.  Burial will take place at the El Pueblito Cemetery.  Family will meet at 9:00AM at the bridge in Questa.
