Jose Miguel "Mike" Roybal “Bluebird”, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 7, 2021 at his home in Chamisal. Mike was born October 2, 1934 in Llano San Juan, New Mexico, to Procopio and Elbiria Roybal. He was the oldest of five children.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother. Jose is survived by his wife, Mary Elva Roybal, his nephew who he considered as his son Benjamin E. Lopez (Olivama), daughters: Aurora I. Dominguez (Candido), Ida J. Trujillo (Frank), Wanda F. Covert (Terry), Bernadette M. Roybal and Linda E. Sanchez (Moises). 12 grandchildren including two grandchildren Nathaniel A. Pacheco and Javier E. Lugo whom they raised as his own; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Eloyda (Fidel) Romero, Ernest (Abie) Roybal and Lilian (Frank) Lopez. A very close niece, Loyola Lopez and close godson Juan C. Lopez Jr.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at 6:00PM in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, seating is limited.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 22, 2021 at 10:00AM at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Burial will follow at 1:30PM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
