Jose Dolores Vigil 70, a resident of Pilar, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2019.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Macedonia Vigil; brothers Alex, Filadelfio, Norberto and Pacomio Vigil; parents-in-law Seferino and Priscilla Suazo; sisters-in-law Virginia Leyba and Dora Salazar.
Jose Dolores Vigil proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He later became an Educator and taught at various schools throughout Northern New Mexico, where he was well known by many. He completed his career, retiring from the Mesa Vista Municipal Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Veronica Vigil; children Yvette Benavides (Gerald), Dolores Vigil (Sammy Barela), Cassandra Vigil-Mondragon (Orlando), Tomas Vigil (Valerie); grandchildren Gino Tapia, Sebastian Tapia, Yazmine Mondragon, Christian and Christopher Tapia, Alyssa Benavides, Orlando Mondragon, Isabella Benavides, Analeah Brown, Enrique Vigil, Antonio Benavides, Kataleya Mondragon, Aubriela Vigil and Alina Vigil; a special nephew Alex Suazo. Surviving siblings include Steve Vigil, Ben Vigil (Maria), Juana Jaramillo (Paul) and Maxine Vigil, brother-in-law Leonard Suazo (Roseanne), plus many other loving relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Sunday October 20, 2019 at 6:00pm in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday October 21, 2019 at 11:00am at Nuestra Senora De Los Dolores Catholic Church in Pilar, with burial to follow at the Pilar Cemetery.
