Jose L. Silva

Jose Laureano Silva age 102 of El Prado, NM. Passed away on November 29, 2023. He was born and raised in San Cristobal, NM. He was a Businessman, Rancher, and World War II Veteran. After returning from the war, he worked in Mexico with the Department of Agriculture during the Hoof and Mouth pandemic. He returned home, and worked for the City of Santa Fe, served as a manager for the City of Espanola, and served as the finance officer for Taos County. He then started his own business, Silva’s Enterprises.

He is preceded in death by his children Fernando, Loren, Mike, Danny, and Jose; his parents Melaquias Silva and Gabina Chacon Silva; his siblings Melaquias Jr, Eluvin, Arabella, Lucille, Evangeline, and Viola.

Survived by his wife Beatrice Silva, daughters Agatha McCain (Steve) and Bernadette McConnell (Don), sons Laurie “Joe” Silva (Anna), Deane “Dino” Silva (Paloma) and Jaquess “Jake” Silva (Trish). Close grandchildren Jon-Michael “Twig” (Shannon), Danique “Nikki” (Josh), Brittanny, Ashlynn, Jesse and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Sister Epimenia “Pimie” Cardenas and in-laws the Morgas family.

Pallbearers are Jon-Michael “Twig” Silva, Mike “Barty” Silva, Pedro Cruz, Richard Sanchez, Steven Ellis, and Patrick Visarriagas. Honorary pallbearers are Junito Medina, Bobby Duran and GG Cardenas.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 6pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow at the San Cristobal Cemetery.
