Johnny Vigil

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother, Johnny Vigil, also known as Dirt. A lifelong resident of Cerro, NM. Dirt passed away on March 12th, 2025. He was the first-born sibling, born on September 8th, 1966 in San Manuel, AZ. He graduated from Questa High School class of 1984 and enlisted in the United States Army where he served for four years. Dirt was a jack of all trades, and well known as a person to call for a helping hand, but his specialty was in auto mechanics, a trade he loved and thrived in. Dirt was well known for his artistic talent. He had a God given talent for drawing. He was also a huge sports fan with a love for basketball and football. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Dirt enjoyed the great outdoors. He was a fisherman, he loved to hike and could be found enjoying a beer around the campfire at the cabins in Amalia.

Dirt is preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso Vigil, Jr (Frito), and Charlotte (Annie) Vigil; his baby sister Tracy Vigil; and his wife Kendrea Gallegos.

He is survived by his siblings Brian Vigil, Martin Vigil, Dawn (Michelle) Vigil; as well as his nephew Miguel Hurtado, nieces Tishara Archuleta, Raquel Vigil, Miquela Goodson, and Marissa Goodson; a very special uncle who he spent most of his time with, Pancho Vigil, his companion Theresa Sandoval, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins and lifelong friends.

Funeral Service will be held at Living Word Ministries in Questa, NM on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 at 11:00am, with burial following at the Cerro Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving the family are, Snyder Vigil, Panchito Vigil, Michael Vigil, Julio Vigil, Julian Torres and Jimmy Martinez;  Honorary Pallbearers are, Danny Segura, Frank Rael, Conrad Archuleta, Joseph Segura, Jose Martinez, Dino Archuleta, Loren Lovato and Dale Valdez.
