Guillermo (Willie) Maestas, 91, of Talpa went home to our Lord peacefully on the evening of January 1, 2022.
Guillermo was born in Talpa, New Mexico on 6 July 1930. He proudly served in the Army attaining the rank of Private First Class during the Korean War. After the war he returned to Talpa for 14 years before moving to Tooele, Utah for work. He worked for the US Government as a civil service employee at the Tooele Army Depot for 11 years where he retired in 1976.
He loved to read, listen to the radio, help his brother take care of the family farm and spend time with family and friends. His favorite hobby was learning and documenting the history, genealogy of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pascual and Eleonor Maestas.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Francisco Maestas (Rosabel), Eleuto Maestas (Ida), Augustina Valdez (Ben), Ella Anglada (Sam), Enedina Martinez (Toby), Josefina Gallegos (Orlando), Pascualito Maestas (Josie), goddaughter Loretta Rael (Steve), godson Darryl Maestas (Julie), goddaughter Linda Trevithick, many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him tremendously. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
Rosary will be recited on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church, burial will follow at the Talpa Cemetery.
