Gabino Alvin Martinez

Gabino “Gabby” Martinez 75 year of age, a resident of Arroyo Seco, New Mexico has gone to be with the Lord after a long battle with health issues.

He was preceded in death by his parents Escolastico and Alicia Martinez; brother Andrew Martinez; sisters Cecilia Maestas and Margarita Johnson; brothers-in-law Mike Apodaca, Carlos Romo; and niece Kathy Mondragon.

Gabby is survived by his wife of 50 years Bernice; sons Dennis Martinez, Allen Martinez (Carmela); daughter Evelyn Martinez (Mike); granddaughter Valerie (James), grandsons Allen Jr., Cruz (Lena), Damian, Phil (Alexis); great-grandson James Jr.; great-granddaughter Arabella.  Siblings Lucille Apodaca, Arturo (Bella), Lorencita Romo, Escolastico Jr. (Diana), Paul (Sibieanne), Romelia (Albert), Tina (Roger), Anna Marie (Cordy); brother-in-law Manuel Maestas, Mark Johnson, sister-in-law Pricilla and Dennis Mondragon, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gabby worked for the Taos Municipal Schools as a custodian for 25 years.  Upon his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his cherished family.  He was full of life and loved everybody that touched his heart.  The Martinez family would like to thank Pauline Mascarenas his caregiver, the Dialysis Center of Taos and UNM Hospital, and Mountain Home Health Care for the care given during his time of need.

Serving the family as pallbearers are James Gonzales, Cruz Martinez, Allen Martinez Jr., Phil Aragon, Lawrence Romo and Francisco Pacheco.

Public visitation will be on Wednesday July 22, 2020  from 4-6pm in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.  Private services will follow with burial to be held at the La Lama Cemetery.
