Fabiola Laura Cortez

Fabiola Laura Cortez, 86 years old of Ranchos de Taos, NM, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2025, she was born on October 25, 1938 in El Prado NM.

Faby as she was lovingly called, is preceded in death by her husband Leroy Cortez; her parents Placida Visarriagas and Cristobal Cardenas; her son Lawrence “Tiny” Cortez; granddaughter Amanda Cortez; also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Presciliano, Gilberto, Lorenzo (Lencho), Eulogia “Jugi” Cardenas and Henrietta Visarriagas; and her in-laws Amarante and Jessie Cortez.

Faby is survived by her sons Leroy Jr. and Raymond Cortez (Maggie); her grandson’s Ray Jr. (Kendra) and Enriquez Cortez; her great-grandchildren Lily Ray, Ryleigh, Alex and Chris Cortez; Faby is also survived by her sisters and brothers Marcella Cardenas, Sheila Martinez, Bernabe Visarriagas and Juan Valdez (Glenda); sister-in-law Epimenia Cardenas and Zilpha Gatlin; along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Fabiola was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all that knew her. Fabiola worked hard for over 30 years as one of the best waitresses in Taos. She worked at Kachina Lodge, Taos Inn and other local restaurants. Faby also worked for Taos County Housing authority.

Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 7:00pm at San Francisco de Asís Catholic church. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 10:00am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic church, in Ranchos de Taos, with burial to follow at the Jesus Nazareno Cemetery.
