Evelyn Maria Parraz, 83, a lifelong resident of El Prado, slipped the bonds of Alzheimer’s and peacefully reached the end of her earthly journey at her home on December 6th, 2024.
Evelyn was born on December 28, 1940 to the late Vicente and Marcelina Parraz. She was the oldest of 8 children. She quickly found out what a loving family should be. Soon after, she became a mom to Frankie and Roger. To her family, she was a source of love, strength and comfort. She had an eye for fashion and always made sure her hair and make-up looked just right. She always looked fabulous.
She will be remembered for working at Walgreens on The Plaza and later becoming the Housing Director of Taos County and the Town of Taos until her retirement. She also worked at Kachina Lodge as a waitress.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente Y Marcelina; sister Concha, brothers Robert, Pancho and Raymond; niece Rayla; and grandniece Lexy. We pray and envision a most beautiful and joyful reunion in heaven.
She is survived by her sons, Frankie and Roger; her two grandsons, Estevan and Elijah; and godson, Vicente Arguello; siblings Tommy Parraz (Frances), Lola Parraz and Anna Parraz Romero (JD); and numerous nephews and nieces.
Evelyn was the epitome of sweetness to everyone she met. She so generously found ways to help people she met. She faced every challenge, every sorrow with optimism and grace. There are no words to express how very much she was loved or how much she will be missed.
With heartfelt gratitude, we thank everyone for their kind words and support during this difficult time. Additionally, the family would like to extend a very special thank you to Margaret Trujillo (and family), for the amazing care and love shown to mom. Not only was she mom’s Caregiver, but her friend and to us she became family - La Familia Parraz.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 6pm. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00am, both held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
The family of Evelyn Maria Parraz has entrusted the care of their loved one to the caring staff of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. 866-657-4019 www.devargastaos.com
