Lt. Colonel Enrico M. Velasquez age 71, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, died peacefully at home on September 7, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert Velasquez, his mother Violetta Salazar-Velasquez; his brothers, Armando and Mario Velasquez and his sister Monica Lucero.
Enrico is survived by his wife Roberta (Bobby) House-Velasquez; children Shawn Velasquez, Richard Velasquez and Melinda Sanft; brothers Rolando, Diego, Carlos, Rey and Raul Velasquez; grandchildren Devon, Melsia, Leeann, Shania, Izzy, Elias and Katherine; and great-grandchild Trinity.
Semper Fi (always faithful/always loyal) the motto of every Marine, briefly describes this beautiful person. Enrico received many awards and medals (too many to mention). Not only did he serve in the Marines for 28 years during the Vietnam Era, Desert Storm and Iraq Invasion/Conflict, but also was a wonderful husband and father. Enrico loved fixing cars, caring for animals and had a passion for bull riding. He gave his family the opportunity to see many parts of the world. They lived in San Diego, Kansas City, Hawaii and Germany. He will be greatly missed and his family is eternally grateful for everything he has done for them. Enrico, YOU will live forever in our hearts.
Rosary will be recited on September 23, 2023 at 1:00pm, at the Talpa Church (Nuestra Señora de San Juan). Interment to be held at a later date.
