Doris Elaine Olsen passed away at her home in Taos, New Mexico, on April 21, 2021. Doris was born in Oakland, California, on June 22, 1931. She had a passion for art and enjoyed sharing it with others. Doris lived in Sonora for 40 years and was a well-known watercolorist of historical buildings, landscapes and flowers. She taught classes and organized workshops in France, Italy, Sonora and Taos. Her art adorns the walls of many homes, and her legacy will continue to bring beauty to family and friends throughout the country. Some of her hobbies included, working in her rose garden, cooking for family and friends, as well as traveling and exploring the world. She was an active member of many service clubs including Omega Nu.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Stanley Roger Olsen. Doris is survived by her children Gary (Susan) Olsen, Karen Olsen and Roger (Kathleen) Olsen; her sister , Sylvia (Richard) Lyons; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Local service arrangements will be held at a later date.
