Coral Dawn Bernal - Red Coral Flower, age 33, a resident of Taos Pueblo, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Paul J. Bernal; grandmother Emily Bernal; great-grandfather Joseph Ignacio Bernal; great-grandmother Marina Bernal; and grandfather Harry Stewart.
Coral was an exceptional writer, poet, and artist. She was a beautiful woman, with an infectious smile and soul to match. Coral was full of life, love, and had many friends, whom she adored. She was the first winner of the Taos Summer Writer Conference at the age of 16.
She is survived by her parents Carpio and Rose Bernal; siblings Camille Rouper (James), Sonya Bernal (Leslie Trujillo), Shaunté Bernal; Carpio J.I. Bernal (CJ), Kwantlen D. Bernal; grandmother’s Barbara Stewart and Eloisa Apachito; aunts and uncles Vernon and Kathryn Brown; Mary Stewart-Sepass (Bill), Helen Johnson, Beatrice Stewart, Debbie Stewart, Sandy Heisler; cousins Waylon Brown, Vernon P. Brown, Emily R. Brown; plus many other loving relatives from Taos Pueblo and Canada, along with many cherished friends.
Public visitation will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2020 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm followed by a Private Family Service in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.
