Claudio "Gigger" Ortiz

Claudio “Gigger” Ortiz 82, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, passed away unexpectedly October 9, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernestino and Domitila Ortiz; siblings Patricio Ortiz, Henry Chemo Ortiz and Victor Ortiz; son-in-law John Martinez; and nephew Danny "Bamba" Ortiz.

Claudio was an amazing athlete in his younger years and was actually drafted to play for the LA Dodgers.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.  For numerous years he was employed by Garcia Funeral Home, where he cared for many families throughout Taos.

He is survived by his daughters Claudia Martinez (Phillip), Amy Ortiz (Pablo), sons Eric Flores and Greg Flores; grandchildren Abigail Nguy, Pablo Flores, Nina Flores, Nathaniel Martinez, Bronson Ortiz, Pablo Cordova, Leyna Flores and Ollie; great-grandchildren Olivia Nguy and Jose Pablo Flores; the mother of his children Emma Ferguson Ortiz; sister Irene Valerio (Pancho) and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rosary will be recited on Friday October 21, 2022 at 9:00am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A meal will follow at the St. Joseph's Parish Hall at 11am.
