Clarence Grant

d. December 19, 2024

Clarence Teodoro Grant, 82, of Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, passed away on December 19, 2024, at Holy Cross in Taos.

Clarence was born on November 11, 1942, in Taos, New Mexico, to Elva Morgas and Eduardo Grant. He was a lifelong resident of Taos, and his roots in the community ran deep.

Clarence attended Taos High School and later became known as a skilled carpenter, admired for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He had a passion for creating things with his hands, from cabinets and shelves to complete bedroom sets, wall units, and tables. His love for woodworking was not just a hobby, but a way for him to express his love and care for those around him. In the early 2000s, Clarence and his wife, Ande, moved back to Taos to care for his aging mother, Elva, who passed away in 2001. Clarence’s love for his family was evident in his dedication to his mother. In 2014, he lost his wife Ande, the love of his life, after her courageous battle with cancer. After Ande's passing, Clarence found comfort and support in his lifelong friends, who gathered with him each morning for breakfast at McDonald's to share stories and reminisce about old times. Clarence wasn’t one to stay home for long, he was often seen in the Walmart parking lot, people-watching, or driving around town in his silver Chevy HHR, enjoying the world around him.

Clarence is survived by his children, Teddy Grant of Arvada, Colorado; Pamela Grant-Ruiz of Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico; and Adam Grant of Redondo Beach, California. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Clarence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and craftsmanship will live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Rest in peace, Clarence. You will never be forgotten.
