Bernadine Garcia

Bernadine Garcia 65, a resident of Talpa, NM went into Heaven on April 4, 2025 after a hard battle with cancer.

Bernadine was a Certified Public Accountant / Certified Fraud Examiner, a profession she took great pride in. Bernadine was a graduate of Taos High School, the class of 1978, she went on to the College of Santa Fe, where she graduated on the Dean’s List, with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After, she went to California for 6 months, where she studied for the CPA – exam, proudly Bernadine was the first Hispanic woman to become a CPA. When she returned back to New Mexico, she conducted and completed audits throughout NM. Bernadine owned and operated her own CPA office in Taos and was in business for over 30 years, until her passing.

Bernadine is preceded in death by her parents Rose and Bernabe Garcia; her sister Peggy Garcia; and nephew Dominic Lucero.

She is survived by her sister Valerie Garcia, brother Dennis Garcia (Sandra); nephews and nieces, Matthew Garcia, Norman Lucero (Nicholette), Daniel Garcia (Renee), Josh Garcia, Peggy Rose Lucero, Jeremiah and Andres; and many other loving family members; her cherished pets Bambi, (†Buffy, †Rosie, †BooBoo, †Skunky, †Punky).

Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 9:00am, Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church, burial will follow at the Talpa Cemetery. 

Losing a loved one definitely hurts, missing those moments good and bad, the memories that brought our family together. We are thankful that God blessed us with such a beautiful gift, it definitely hurts to give you back, but we will cherish your memories you left us. Like the seed buried in the ground, you have produced the harvest of eternal life for us; God, may your Angels protect Bernadine Garcia.
