Benjie Apodaca, a resident of Arroyo Seco, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday July 15, 2019.
He was preceded in death by Grand-Parents Eraclio and Marcelina Martinez, Bejamin and Arabella Apodaca; uncle Norbert Martinez and aunt Linda Trujillo. Benjie was known for his contributions to students as the instructor of the culinary program at Taos High School for many years, where he helped many students develop skills that sent them on several occasions to compete at the national level. Benjie recently took his students to the national ProStart culinary and business competition where they competed against top tier teams from high schools across the county. He took pride in working with the students and shared his talents in the culinary arts field.
Benjie is survived by his companion of 20 years Vicki Lawson, parents Rosina and Melecio Apodaca, siblings Melissa Apodaca (Gil), Robert Apodaca (Krista), nieces and nephews Jaclyn, Megan, Danielle, Noah, Johnny Lawson (Roxanne) and Coralyne. Aunts and uncles Phil Martinez (Odie), Ramona Bender, Maxine Martinez, Erminio Martinez, Juan and Tina Martinez, Gloria Garcia, Eva Martinez and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday July 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday July 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
