Ben "Speedy" Gonzales

Ben “Speedy” Gonzales 77, a resident of Questa, passed away peacefully December 11, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Gonzales; parents Frank & Ruth Gonzales; grandpa Jose Bailon; in-laws Manuel & Idela Romero; and brother-in-law Manuel Romero, Jr.

For many years Ben was employed by the Moly Mine in Questa and the Questa Public Schools.  He loved to provide for his family and worked very hard until the very end.  Ben especially loved his grandchildren.

Ben is survived by his wife Sally Gonzales; son Ben Gonzales, Jr; grandchildren Izziah Gonzales, Micah Gonzales, Mariah Jane Gonzales, Zachariah Gonzales and Hezekiah Gonzales; daughter-in-law Pastor Kristi Gonzales; siblings Mary Anne Romero (Ernie), Joann Gonzales (Patrick), Mary Jean Gonzales and Mark Gonzales (Rena); plus many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public visitation will be on Tuesday December 19, 2023 from 9-9:45am in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home  Celebration of Life will be at 11am at Living Word Ministries in Questa, with burial to follow at El Pueblito Cemetery.  A meal will follow at the Questa VFW.
