Antonia B. Mares

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Antonia B Mares, 63 years, resident of Taos, passed away on February 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Loretta DeHerrera and John P. Mares, paternal grandparents Beatrice and Paul Mares; maternal grandparents Manuelita and George Chavez; her beloved sister Francisca P. Chavez who she missed dearly, In laws- Esequiel and Polly Mares, brother-in-law Joe Mares, and niece Justice Esperanza Cantu. Antonia had the biggest heart, and she adored her family beyond measure. Antonia is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Gilbert Mares, children Estrella Mares (Corey), Antonio Mares (Breanna) and Miguel Mares; stepson James and family, grandchildren Angeleah, Hailey, Antonio Jr., Arianna, and Alexander; special niece Andrea M. Chavez who she considered as her own; brother John Paul Mares (Jessica), David Mares (Renee) and Steven Mares, sister Kathryn Coppedge (Tom); God-children Angelica Cantu; her Reina, Beverly Cordova and Jo-Jo Casados. Aunts/Uncles Cecilia Valdez, Sarah Salazar, Sylvia Martinez,  Special aunt Lupe Anaya (Mike), Cruz Chavez (Elma), Lucaria Chavez, Chris Chavez (Mary Lou), Carmella Chavez Villafranca and Bettina Pacheco (Manuel). Joanne Castillo (Sef), Delia Ortega; Frances Parraz (Tommy), and Bonnie Mares. In-laws Stephanie Rivera, Tom (Edna), Leroy (Mae), Jenny, (David), Jerry, Manuel (Susan), Fran (Rodney) and Virginia (Peter), plus many nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Friday February 23, 2024 at 9am followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Los Alamitos Cemetery in Los Cordovas. A reception will follow at the Llano Quemado Community Center.   The family of Antonia B.
