Andy L. Valerio age 72, a resident of Ranchos de Taos, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, July 31, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizardo & Magdalena Valerio; uncles Eloy Valerio and Juan Herrera; and godmother Lydia Romero.
Andy was employed by and retired from the Taos Municipal Schools after 25 years, where he was an educator and coach. He loved to watch sports and spend time outdoors. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Mary Thomas-Valerio; children Robert Valerio, Maria Valerio, and Alicia Valerio-Swanson (Joe); stepdaughter Zoe Gallegos (Miguel); grandchildren Alexandria Valerio, Caden Swanson, Miguel Gallegos and McKenzie Gallegos; sister Peggy Ferguson; aunts Joanna Valerio and Efren Luna; special cousins Glenda Ortega, Eloisa Trujillo and Pancho Mondragon; best friend Jose Rodriguez and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Serving the family as Honorary Pallbearers: Dale Quintana, Clarence Romero, Steve Trujillo, Max Valerio, Antonio Vigil, Bernabe Visarriagas, Ramon Rael and Pancho Mondragon.
Special thank you to Red Willow Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Elliott Guinn for making it possible to bring Andy back home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00am at the Ranchos Presbyterian Church.
