On Monday, December 25, 2023, Andrew J. Gonzales, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, family member, and friend passed away unexpectedly in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Beatriz & Juan I. Gonzales, and by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles, and cousins on both the Gonzales (paternal) and the Arguello (maternal) sides of his family. Known locally and nationally as an exceptional outfitting guide, he was an avid outdoorsman himself. His joy of hunting and fishing was only surpassed by his passion for helping others enjoy the sport.
He is survived by his wife Jessica; sons Matthew, Andrew Jr., Hue, Wesley, and Everett; siblings Marcia (Kyle), Marian, Merly (George), Anthony, and Monica (Kenneth); parents-in-law James L. and Rosemarie Romero; brother-in-law James V. (Melinda); nieces and nephews Christina, Angela, John-David, Isaac, Travis, Hargis, Michael, Alicia, Caroline, Harrison, Janell, James Jr. and Ben; and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
A public viewing and devotional will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 11:00am to 12:00 noon at DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 6:00pm and the Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 10:00am. Both the rosary and the mass will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos, NM. Burial will follow the mass at Dolores Cemetery and a reception in his honor will follow at St. Joseph's Hall.
