Alex Ortiz

Alex Ortiz, age 83, a resident of Talpa, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jackie Ortiz, infant daughter baby girl Ortiz, his parents, Jose Rafael and Frances Ortiz, and sister Claudia Rothstein.  Alex worked for over 20 years  as a retail clerk at the local hardware store and served for many years as the Mayordomo for the Acequia Madre del Rio Chiquito. In his spare time, he loved to work on his ranch doing numerous jobs.  He is survived by his sons, Bob Ortiz (JoAnn), Dan Ortiz (Maria), and Michael Ortiz (Ashley), his grandchildren, Melissa Askew (EZ), Sandy Whitlock (Troy), Victoria Hernandez, Danica Ortiz, Alex Ortiz, Luke Ortiz, and Eli Ortiz, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, siblings, Lorenzo Ortiz, Priscilla Apodaca, Socorro Wilson (Butch), Ruby Montoya, Connie Fortin (Steve) and Dr. Ralph Ortiz; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Saturday June 11, 2022 at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic church, burial will follow at the Talpa Cemetery.  The family of Alex Ortiz, has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. www.devargastaos.com 1-866-657-4019
